Stan Rice is the author of six books of poetry (Some Lamb 1975, Whiteboy 1976, Body of Work 1983, Singing Yet 1992, Fear Itself 1995, The Radiance of Pigs 1999) and one book of paintings (Paintings 1997). For many years he was associated with San Francisco State University, where he was Professor of English and Creative Writing, Assistant Director of The Poetry Center, and Chairman of the Creative Writing Department. He has been the recipient of the Joseph Henry Jackson Award, a writing fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts, and the Edgar Allen Poe Award of the Academy of American Poets. He lives in New Orleans.
