[Chris Jones]

I´m weary with old men mowing
their violet maps in April
gray newspaper text
contrast between tweed suits & flowered skirts
hanging on thighs slick like amber syrup
men who ask questions bore me
as do the men who ask no questions
I want dirt on walls &
hands tracing a charcoal mask across my face
I want ice that steams
wine that tastes like bubblegum
I want to swear in my grandfather´s voice
curse everything believed
or disbelieved
I want a long pause by a river at sunset
or later under starlit Nothing
a pregnant flow whispering pure quiddity
I want vodka for breakfast
I want dynamite
in a dirt field opening & closing
holes beside the highway
on my long journey home
